I personally enjoy MotioninJoy for all of my controller emulation. It works well for Playstation controllers, is easy to plug in and test (it even includes vibration testing) and a bunch of other features. I haven't used an Xbox controller for yet, although, but I've been using it ever since I played Alan Wake and would rather not have used a keyboard.
Are there any others out there you enjoy? Maybe one that works better?

There is no substitute for the real thing that is for sure. Also the reason I invented the Bliss-box.

The 4-Play is the production version I hope to get running, it eliminates the need in buying USB adapters for each console port. These USB adapters can be had cheaply but still add up the cost quickly. Some of these adapter required drivers and none of them map the buttons in the same way and have inconsistent issues. Best part is it four players in one.

My hand made "monstrosity" on the other hand is just a single player with ports on the box.

But what is fun is building to customize orders, and that part of what I do make it very enjoyably.

So to answer that question, the best controller is the original controller. I hope to get this thing ready soon, but the Kick starter starts next month.

Its a lot of fun developing it, right now its working on the PS3 console. Hope to get the HOME button working (via start+select) and the pressure buttons working soon. I also here the wii-U allows usb controllers to work. That may be next up. Imagine playing SSBB with another type controller.
